I love all animals, especially cats.
I love exploring new ways to see the world around me.
For me photography is about making a connection. As a pet photographer capturing that special bond between a pet and their human elevates an image from a snapshot to a timeless memory. My one goal is to freeze that moment, behavior or look that makes us recognize the spirit of our furry companions. I love working with all pets and have a special place in my heart for photographing cats. When I am at home my cats Zazu (bengal) and Fergus (Rescue) are always with me. They think they are my assistants and work hard to help me or at least critique the images.
I have explored the world through my camera since I was about 10 years old. Like many photographers, I took photos of everything. In my film days, I enjoyed experimenting with different darkroom technics to get unusual effects. I was compositing even back then. And when digital first came out I was an early adopter. My interest in electronics and all things high tech lead me to a career as a software engineer where I was one of the developers of the first mainstream web browsers; NCSA Mosaic. I traveled extensively for my work and spent my off hours photographing the places I visited.
In 2010 I decided to get more serious about my photography. After taking a few online photography classes I focused on combining my photography and love of animals. I feel like I found my calling.

Kim (Pawprints Pix Photography) is absolutely amazing as a pet photographer, and she has my highest recommendation. Her photographs are truly works of art and are priceless treasures. She is very good with animals and is just a wonderful person as well. I can't say enough about her, how talented she is, and what a pleasure she is to work with. Lisa S
Thank you so much for the beautiful photo's of my foster kittens Bella, Edward, Ben and Jerry. I really appreciate all you do. Lisa
Outstanding photographic work Kim! You really have the touch when it comes to capturing the perfect moment when an animal shows us it's inner self. Whether it's something crazy and funny, or a soulful look, you make memories for owners to cherish. Wonderful pictures! Mike
Your pictures of Ellen the Blue Heeler truly captured her fun, mischievous, curious, playful spirit! She enjoyed her "glamour shots" session and the special attention that you gave her. I enjoyed watching all the tricks you employed to grab and keep her attention and to coax out the perfect expressions and poses. You were delightful to work with :-) Thank you, Kim. Myra S
I was the president of an Illinois foster-based rescue, when Kim approached us offering to take adoption photos. We gladly took her up on it, and she took some of the most beautiful, memorable and personality-catching photos I have ever seen. Kim's talent speaks for itself--just look at her photos. But on top of that, Kim is the kindest, most generous, most patient person. It was great to work with her, and many years later, I am happy to call her my friend. Marcia T
