Make a Wish

It was Jaye’s wish to celebrate her 50th with the Mouse and the gang. So we packed up, stuffed a few suprises up my sleeve and headed south.

The plan:
- Start with a visit with the folks
- A day with Harry Potter
- Time with Mickey and Friends
- On “The Special Day” dinner at Kouzzina’s – Cat Cora’s restaurant (of Ironchef fame) with Jolie & Mike.
- More time with Mickey
- Head home happy, rested and singing “It’s a small world” in our heads.

The Day with Harry Potter

I’ve wanted to spend the day at Universal since the Harry Potter part of the park opened last summer. And I wasn’t disappointed at all!!! It was like stepping onto the movie set or into one of the books. From the Hogwarts castle to the Hogwarts express train at the entrance the attention to every detail was amazing.

There aren’t a ton of rides in this part of the park but you don’t need them. There are butterbeer carts – you got to try it – it’s fantastic, 3 broomsticks restaurant, the sweets shop and joke shop to visit.

You can go into Olivander’s wand shop and let the “wand choose the wizard”.

Or enjoy the local entertainment.

The best part, though, was racing through the grounds on a broomstick. The motion simulator ride inside the castle made you feel that you were racing along behind Harry through a Quidditch match and being chased by a dragon (who breaths on you at one point). Amazingly effects that make you feel like you are really there!!!! I don’t have any shots inside the castle – but I highly recommend the experience.
